Where All Media Downloader saves files on your iPhone

Photos and videos go to your Camera Roll; audio and documents go to the AMD DOWNLOADS folder in Files — here's how to find everything.

After AMD finishes a download, iOS saves the file automatically. Where it lands depends on the media type — not every file goes to Photos.

Photos and videos → Photos app

When AMD downloads a photo or video, it saves directly to your Photos library. Open the Photos app and check Recents — new saves appear at the top.

This includes:

  • Instagram Reels, stories, and feed videos
  • TikTok videos
  • YouTube videos (when saving as video)
  • X, Facebook, Reddit, and Pinterest video/image posts

From Photos you can share, edit, add to albums, or back up via iCloud like any other photo or video.

Audio and other files → Files app

When AMD downloads audio or non-photo media, the file goes to:

Files → On My iPhone → AMD DOWNLOADS

This folder is created automatically the first time AMD saves a non-photo file. Typical contents:

  • SoundCloud tracks
  • YouTube / YouTube Music audio extractions
  • Other audio-only downloads

Finding AMD DOWNLOADS

  1. Open the Files app.
  2. Tap Browse.
  3. Under Locations, tap On My iPhone.
  4. Open the AMD DOWNLOADS folder.

If you do not see it, run an audio download first — the folder appears on first save.

Customizing the save folder name

The shortcut lets you change the Files folder name in its settings (default: AMD DOWNLOADS). Open the shortcut in the Shortcuts app, look for a settings or configuration section, and update the folder name if you prefer something else.

The Photos library location cannot be changed — iOS routes all photo/video saves there through the standard save API.

Why two locations?

Apple separates photo library media from general files. Shortcuts must use the appropriate save action for each type. AMD picks the right destination so videos are easy to find in Photos and audio files do not clutter your Camera Roll.

Tips

  • Check Recents first for anything visual — that is where most social downloads land.
  • Use the Files search bar if you renamed the AMD folder and forgot what you called it.
  • AirDrop from Photos or Files to move downloads to a Mac or iPad.
  • iCloud Photos backs up photo/video saves automatically if you have it enabled. Files in On My iPhone are local unless you move them to iCloud Drive.

Something missing?

If AMD reported success but you cannot find the file:

  1. Force-quit Photos or Files and reopen — the thumbnail index sometimes lags.
  2. Check AMD DOWNLOADS even for content you expected in Photos — a mis-detected MIME type occasionally routes to Files.
  3. See troubleshooting if the download failed silently.
