Troubleshooting common All Media Downloader errors

Fix "AMD key is missing", "file doesn't exist", failed downloads, and other issues — plus when to update your shortcut or rotate your key.

Most AMD problems fall into a few categories: subscription/key issues, an outdated shortcut, or content that cannot be downloaded. Work through this list before contacting support.

"AMD key is missing" or key not accepted

Cause: The shortcut has no saved key, or your key was rotated or revoked.

Fix:

  1. Sign in at allmediadownloader.com and confirm Pro is active on your dashboard.
  2. If you lost your key or suspect it leaked, tap Rotate key on the dashboard. Copy the new key — it replaces the old one immediately.
  3. Run the All Media Downloader shortcut from the Shortcuts app and paste the key when prompted.
  4. Try a download again from the Share sheet.

Keys are stored in the shortcut's AMD-Shortcut folder. Reinstalling the shortcut without re-entering your key will bring this error back.

"File doesn't exist" or shortcut won't run

Cause: Usually a broken shortcut install or stale key file after an update.

Fix:

  1. Delete the shortcut from the Shortcuts app.
  2. Download the latest version from iCloud.
  3. Run setup again and paste a fresh key from your dashboard.
  4. Retry the download.

Always install updates from iCloud rather than duplicating an old copy.

Download fails or times out

Cause: Network issues, private content, platform changes, or an outdated shortcut version.

Fix:

  1. Update the shortcut — AMD checks automatically; install the latest from iCloud if prompted.
  2. Check your connection — switch to Wi‑Fi for large files.
  3. Confirm the content is public — private accounts, followers-only posts, and age-gated content often fail.
  4. Verify Pro status and key on your dashboard.
  5. Try again — platforms occasionally rate-limit; waiting a minute helps.

If one platform fails but others work, the issue is likely on that platform's side. Include the platform name when you email support.

Shortcut not showing in the Share sheet

Cause: AMD is not enabled in your share-sheet favorites.

Fix:

  1. Tap Share on any post.
  2. Scroll to the bottom and tap Edit Actions (or More on older iOS).
  3. Find All Media Downloader and tap the green + to add it to Favorites.
  4. Drag it to the top of the list if you use it often.

Downloads save to the wrong place

AMD sends files to two locations depending on type:

  • Photos and videos → Photos library
  • Audio and other files → Files → On My iPhone → AMD DOWNLOADS

You can rename the Files folder in the shortcut's settings. Photos always go to the library — that is an iOS limitation, not an AMD bug.

YouTube quality looks low

YouTube downloads are temporarily capped at 360p while backend improvements are in progress. This is expected behavior for now, not a settings issue on your phone. Audio-only downloads from YouTube are not affected.

Shortcut says an update is required

AMD enforces minimum shortcut versions for compatibility with the download server. If you see an update prompt:

  1. Open the latest shortcut on iCloud.
  2. Install the latest version (replace the old shortcut).
  3. Re-enter your AMD key if asked.

Running an outdated shortcut against a new server can cause silent failures — always update when prompted.
