By default, All Media Downloader stores your API key in iCloud Drive and saves audio to a folder on your iPhone. Most users never need to change anything — but if iCloud Drive is turned off, or you want a different save folder name, you can edit the shortcut directly in the Shortcuts app.
Before you customize
Make sure you have:
- All Media Downloader installed from iCloud
- An active Pro subscription and AMD key (setup guide)
- The Shortcuts app on iOS 15 or later
Default paths
| What | Default location |
|---|---|
| API key | iCloud Drive → Shortcuts → All Media Downloader → key.txt |
| Audio / file downloads | On My iPhone → AMD DOWNLOADS |
Video and photo downloads always go to Photos — iOS does not allow changing that. See where downloads are saved.
"Location does not exist" — iCloud Drive is off
If saving your key or running a download shows location does not exist (or a similar path error), the shortcut is trying to write to iCloud Drive but that location is unavailable on your device.
Fix 1 — Enable iCloud Drive (recommended)
This is the simplest fix and keeps your key synced if you use multiple Apple devices.
- Open Settings.
- Tap your Apple ID at the top → iCloud.
- Tap iCloud Drive and turn it On.
- Under Apps Syncing to iCloud Drive, confirm Shortcuts is enabled.
- Run All Media Downloader again, or tap Save in All Media Downloader from your Dashboard.
Fix 2 — Edit the shortcut to use local storage
If you prefer not to use iCloud Drive, change every path in the shortcut that points to iCloud Drive → Shortcuts to On My iPhone instead — not just the key file:
- Open the Shortcuts app.
- Tap All Media Downloader to open it, then tap the ⋯ menu → Edit, or long-press the shortcut and choose Edit.
- Scroll to the configuration / settings section at the top of the shortcut (before the main download actions).
- For each path that references iCloud Drive → Shortcuts (key file, download folder, and any other Shortcuts folder paths), switch it to the matching location under On My iPhone — for example On My iPhone → Shortcuts → All Media Downloader →
key.txtfor your key. - Tap Done.
- Save your key again from the Dashboard (Save in All Media Downloader) or paste it when the shortcut asks.
Rename the download folder
To change where audio and other non-photo files are saved:
- Open All Media Downloader in the Shortcuts app and tap Edit.
- In the settings section, find the download folder name (default:
AMD DOWNLOADS). - Enter a new name and tap Done.
New audio saves go to Files → On My iPhone → [your folder name]. Existing files stay in the old folder until you move them.
Allow the shortcut to access Files
If AMD says your key does not exist but you can see key.txt in the Files app, the shortcut may not have permission to read it.
- Open the Shortcuts app.
- Tap All Media Downloader.
- Tap the ⓘ (info) icon in the top-right corner.
- Open the Privacy tab.
- Turn Allow Access to Files (or File Access) On.
Run the shortcut again. If the key file is missing after this, create a new key on your Dashboard and tap Save in All Media Downloader.
After changing settings
- Re-save your key whenever you change the key path or reinstall the shortcut.
- Update from iCloud when AMD prompts you — install the latest shortcut from iCloud rather than duplicating an old copy.
- If downloads still fail, see the troubleshooting guide.
FAQ
Do I need iCloud Drive for All Media Downloader?
Recommended, yes — the default key path lives in iCloud Drive. You can use AMD without iCloud Drive by editing the shortcut to store key.txt locally on your iPhone.
Will customizing break updates?
Installing a new version from iCloud may reset edited paths. After updating, re-check your key and download folder settings and save your key again if needed.
Where do I create a new AMD key?
Sign in at allmediadownloader.com, open your Dashboard, and tap Create key. Use Save in All Media Downloader on your iPhone to write it to key.txt.
